GABRIELE ROLLE

Gabriele (1999) is an Italian artist currently based in Luzern, Switzerland.

During his dance career, he performed in Italy, Cuba, USA, the Netherlands, Russia and Switzerland.

After studying ballet and contemporary dance in Italy for 13 years and graduating cum laude from Liceo Germana Erba in Turin, he moved to the Netherlands in 2018 to attend Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. There, subjects such as improvisation and artistic research contributed to his professional growth and shaped his artistic vision. 

While studying in Rotterdam, Gabriele took part in "Talent On The Move 2020", an international tour organized by Holland Dance Festival. There, he performed works by Felix Landerer, Roy Assaf, Ed Wubbe, Nacho Duato and others. 

In 2020 he moved to Switzerland to join Tanz Luzerner Theater as an apprentice for the season 2020/21 under the direction of Kathleen McNurney; he will continue to dance in Luzern as a company member during the season 2021/22 under the direction of Wanda Puvogel.

While studying in Rotterdam, he developed interest in the non-institutional scene and took part in many independent projects and events in the Netherlands and in Switzerland.

Besides dance, he is very interested in theoretical studies and research: reading and collecting books is one of his biggest passions. Philosophy and spirituality are also very present in his life. He believes that they shape the way the artist connects with the rest of the world.
